6/21/19: Outdoor Professional Development for teachers. ShoreRivers partnered with the Sultana Education Foundation to provide an outdoor PD focused on sturgeon, Nanticoke River history, data collection, and water quality. This PD focused on content for 3rd grade science classes, but included some materials usable for high school biology (particularly the water quality curriculum). The Sturgeon Spawning professional development paddle was facilitated by ShoreRivers Director of Education and Outreach Suzanne Sullivan, ShoreRivers Community Engagement Manager Rebecca Murphy, and Sultana Education Foundation Vice President Chris Cerino. 11 teachers participated.
1/27/2020: Professional development day for Talbot County 3rd grade science teachers. ShoreRivers facilitated an exploration of how the Sturgeon Discovery curriculum we provide meets MWEE and NGSS standards, and we additionally provided classroom activity plans to complement the curriculum we offer. Attended by 7 teachers: Olivia Rossbach, Marissa Carter, and Lisa Ensminger from Easton Elementary, Jonathan Elliot from White Marsh Elementary, Angela Asmussen from Tilghman Elementary, Amy Kellum from Chapel District Elementary, and Brittany Medford from Saint Michael's Elementary. Facilitated by ShoreRivers Director of Education and Outreach Suzanne Sullivan, Educator Megan Buonpane, and Chesapeake Conservations Corps member Mairin Corasaniti.
